INDEPENDENCE DAY CHALLENGE TO REP. MIKE THOMPSON

To: Rep. Mike Thompson.

From:   Carol Wolman, MD.   I am challenging you for the House seat of CA District 1, as the Green Party candidate.

I believe that you are not representing We the People here in District 1.  

I
accuse you of breaking your oath of office, to “uphold and defend the
Constitution against all enemies, foreign and domestic”.   After
12 years in Congress, you must be aware that Bush and Cheney are
enemies of the Constitution- which Bush calls- “just a goddam piece of
paper”.  You must know that impeachment is imperative if the Constitution is to survive.

I accuse you of being a hypocrite, Mike Thompson.  You
tell us that you think Bush and Cheney deserve impeachment, you sign a
letter circulated by Wexler asking Conyers to open hearings.  Then you vomit out the party line, saying impeachment would be a “waste of time”- “there is more important business”.   You well know that Bush and Cheney are blocking every decent initiative proposed in Congress.  Only  by impeaching them can “more important business”-  such as exiting Iraq – move forward. 

As
a member of the House Intelligence Committee, Mike Thompson, you know
how much damage the outing of Valerie Plame and the outing of the CIA front company she worked for has caused to our intelligence gathering.  You know how many agents in her network were killed as a direct result of Libby and Rove’s leak to the press.  You know they would not have outed Plame unless so instructed by their bosses, Bush and Cheney.  You also know that outing a CIA agent is a serious, perhaps treasonous crime, certainly warranting impeachment.

You hypocrite, you say what your constituents want to hear, but then do the opposite.  I accuse you of supporting the Bush regime by going along with it. They condone torture and genocide.  I believe they are criminals, war criminals, and criminals against the American people, and you are going along with it.

As the Green candidate for the House seat in CA District 1, I will be holding a series of town meetings, at the invitation of concerned local citizens.  I will provide you with dates and locations.  They will be held during the summer Congressional recess, so that you will be available to attend and defend yourself.

Mike
Thompson, we will discuss your record on House votes that concern our
pocketbooks, such as the bankruptcy law, the vote against predatory
lending, the tax cuts for the wealthy.  We will find out why you refuse to support single-payor health care, and why you support lenders over homeowners.

Mike Thompson, by your votes on money matters, you have contributed to the economic disaster now facing us.  By consistently voting for war funding, you have helped bleed the US Treasury dry and gut our domestic budget.  You were
elected to represent your constituents, instead you represent big money
and the war and oil lobby, along with the rest of the Blue Dog
Democrats. 

Mike Thompson, you have voted in favor of every single measure that infringes on our precious liberties-  the Patriot Act, the Homeland Security Act, the odious Military Commissions Act, and many more.  You are helping to set us up for fascism. 

Woe to you, Mike Thompson.  I will expose your hypocrisy to the voters of District 1.  You will not be returning to Congress next year. 

Uphold the Constitution!  Let freedom ring!
